It's Not All About Coffee... With Waqaar Sanglay

ROSETTA: Introduce yourself to us and tell us what you do at Rosetta / how long have you been working there?

WAQAAR: My name's Waqaar Sanglay, and my pronouns are they/them. I've been working as a barista at Rosetta for about five months now

ROSETTA: What are some of the best things about being a part of the Rosetta team?

WAQAAR: One of the best things about being part of the team is that I'm surrounded by people who all are driven to learn more about coffee, and I'm also in a position to taste some of the best coffees in South Africa.

ROSETTA: Do you have any other passions, hobbies, special skills? Are you a parent? We want to know about your life outside your current job!

WAQAAR: Outside of work, I keep myself busy with writing poetry and music, but I also have a love for motorsports, so I occasionally go-karting with some friends.

ROSETTA: Has the pursuit of excellence in one passion helped you to pursue excellence in another? And if so, how so? For example, "the pursuit of excellence in coffee has taught me how to be excellent in my other work because…"

WAQAAR: If anything, I think being a bit of a perfectionist since I was young has actually helped me to pursue excellence in coffee. I've always been passionate about racing and I've always pushed myself to learn how to drive faster, but I've had to channel that enthusiasm into coffee and it's working out great thus far!
